Buy Yourself Flowers

Both my hubby and I love books. My house is full of books. There are some which I have not even read myself. Once in a while when I see an interesting book that my hubby has bought I would pick it up to read. There is this new book that he just bought titled :100 Ways To Motivate Yourself – Change Your Life Forever by Steve Chandler.

I was intrigued by the last way, quote:

BUY YOURSELF FLOWERS

Buy yourself flowers that look especially beautiful to you. Put them in your working space, where you’ll see them easily. Evertime you look at them, let them remind you of how colourful your future is going to be, how fresh your thoughts are how easy it is for you to honour yourself, how much power you have to make your environment beautiful… how sweet the smell of the universe can be.
Unquote

I love flowers actually, especially roses. The redder they are they more I like them. Nowadays there are different coloured roses as well. Usually I receive flowers for my birthday from my staffs. But I have also bought myself flowers just to motivate myself as suggested long before I read this book. If you ask me why I do that, I would say that I love flowers and I like to receive flowers. Unfortunately for me my hubby would not think of sending them to me.

The first and the last time he bought me flowers was when I gave birth to my Kak Long. So to those who have been reading you should know that Kak Long is almost 18 years old. He brought the bouquet to the maternity clinic and the nurses though that he was a hopeless romantic. He had reason to be happy because at that point he was hoping for a baby girl. His wish somehow came true 3 more times after that, but he must have been wishing for sons too I guessed, that he no longer thought of giving me flowers after delivery. Being me, the cheeky wife, I will not rest easy if I don’t hint or ask hard enough. The hint would always be during birthdays or annivesary. The night before my birthday, I would say, tomorrow is birthday, so do I get flowers or a diamond or a gold chain or something. What do you think? Do I get what I have been wishing for? I might as well go and trade my hubby with Aladdin to receive any of those in this life…..with Aladdin I could have 3 wishes from the genie.

My hints must be working when, one day when we went down to KL, hubby wanted to detour to Sungai Buloh. Sungai Buloh is famous for plant nurseries. This is hubby’s favourites place, almost everytime we go to KL together or with family, we will usually stop there. Back to the story, when he spotted a pot of rose plant he was asking me if I want it. I said of course they look lovely, really beautiful. So since then, whenever I asked for flowers, you should know the answer, go pluck them from the garden!!!. He has been planting lots of flowering plants, there are jasmine, local roses behind my bedroom, there are bunga kerak nasi (I have no idea what this is called in English), there are japanese roses which only blooms in the morning in red, pink and yellow. There are also bunga tahi ayam in yellow, violet and orange. Of course the bouganvillas of various colours. So anyone who wants to "mandi bunga" you know where to come. My house is actually surrounded with lots of plants. I will try to post some pictures later. It is very cooling actually.

Eventhough he does not buy me flowers, just plant them, I do still enjoy receiving flowers and like the author said, it is one of the ways to motivate yourself. I will continue to buy myself flowers from time to time especially when I am stresed or feeling down. Just to give you guys ample notice, my birthday is in early June, and I just love Roses, if you can’t make it 3 stalks please make it a dozen of long stem roses!!!!!

What about you all, do you like flowers? Have you bought others or yourselves flowers recently?

I love flowers esp roses. However I never got any flowers from my husband as he is allergic to pollen. One time i picked some sun flowers and brought inside the house, maka bersinlah dia. However, my husband never forgets important dates, so I usually find presents on the coffee maker, on my pillow, on my computer desk, inside my sejadah, on the coffee table etc. I usually ask what he wants for his birthday...senang nak bagi.
