A New Year 2006. A New Beginning?

Wow, it does feel that times passes very fast. 2005 is nearly over, a new year is beginning soon. Cepat sangat rasanya, dah 20 tahun aku bergelar sebagai isteri. Dah 18 tahun sebagai ibu. MasyaAllah. Apa agaknya accomplishment aku selama ni kan? Rasa macam tak ada apa-apa pun. Umur pun makin meningkat, ibadah macam mana? Dah ke bersedia nak menghadapi hari-hari tua? Tak lama lagi nak pencen dah kan, anak-anak belum lepas lagi. Tahun 2006 ni Angah nak ambik SPM, Syia UPSR. Bersedia kah depa tu? Macam mana nak bimbing depa untuk menghadapi tahun ni. Semalam pun hubby dah kata kena buat timetable bagi diorang tu. Aku kena tengok dulu timetable sekolah dan tuisyen diorang dulu tu.

Aku tak pernah buat azam tahun baru. Sebab pada aku, kalau berazam pun tak buat apa guna, nanti rasa guilty pulak, depress pulak sebab tak accomplish apa yang di azamkan tu. But then again plan kena buat. Uncertainties are better handled with plans. Plans do not mean we have to have a black and white on paper. Sebab yang ni bukan masalah negara yang kita nak plan ni. Just a small family "business" plan. Things that would involved money and time and at the end of day the result is one happy family without any hiccup. Come rain, shine, snow whatever senang je nak tangani tanpa banyak kerenah.

Apa lah aku membebel macam konsultant pulak ni, hehehe.

Apa-apa pun, sekolah pun dah nak bukak. Persediaan persekolahan anak-anak dah pun ada. Aku beli tambah je, yang mana anak-anak kata perlu beli. Beg sekolah beli baru, baju jadikan 3 pasang sebab bibik dah tak ada, senang kalau hari hujan tak sempat kering ke apa. Kasut masih elok lagi jadi tak payah beli. Jadinya makin kuranglah masa tidur nanti. Mungkin boleh kurus sikit kut ni hehehe.

Apa-apapun, kat sini aku nak ambil kesempatan nak ucapkan

Selamat Menyambut Tahun Baru 2006.
Semoga 2006 membawa lebih kesejahteraan kepada kita semua. InsyaAllah.

20th Wedding Annivessary

Today 28th December 2005, is our (hubby and I) 20th wedding annivessary. I am not able to write anything yet as I am in KL office for the day for a very important meeting. Will write ASAP.

We came out from the house at 4.30 am this morning, to drive to KL office for my meeting as well as to send Kak Long back to campus. The rush was to make sure we arrived before 9.00 am which is the time for Kak Long’s first class today. I intentionally asked hubby to accompany me to KL for this trip because of the annivessary. Saja-saja nak berdua-duan dengan dia tu. Since Kak Long went home for the Christmas holiday and knowing that we were coming to KL then she stayed on until today.

After we sent her to campus, on the way to my KL Office I just casually ask hubby.

Me : " Do you remember that today is our anniversary? "

Hubby : (Much to my surprised). " Ingat, tapi hari ni berapa haribulan, 28 kan? Bukan semalam ka? "

Me : " La, hari ni lah. "

Hubby : " Yang ke berapa dah? "

Me : " 20 dah"

See, that is my hubby, he forgets all the important dates in our lives. The only date he remembers is his own birthday, :-), which he will remind me a few days before. Every year when he has to fill in the income tax form, he will call me to ask for the girls birthdates. I will always asked him back, whether he remembers mine. He said he did, but on the actual day he "forgets".

That is typical of him, I have long given up the sulking or merajuk for all these. So how do you expect him to surprise me with something romantic for to tonight? I will be really, REALLY surprise if he does. The presents that he will buy me would be items of clothing. The first and the probably the last time he bought me flowers was the day I gave birth to Kak Long.

Don’t get me wrong, I love him very much. Because as a husband, he is a good husband. As an individual he is a nice person. Being a perfectionist, he keeps me in line with my a lot of things. My cloth’s sense and style, the way I walk and talk etc. Leaving things to me I will sure be very "selekeh" He is my biggest critics in a lot of things. But at the same time he encourages me in things that he knows I am good at. In our relationship we are GOOD friends as well as we are lovers.

My parents’ marriage was not a very good one. I told my husband that I would not want our marriage to be like theirs. And I will continue working after we were married. Because my parents will expect it of me after they had paid for my education. On his side of the family, the week of our wedding, the family was shocked of the news of the brother-in-law’s lies to his eldest sister (Kak Maz). The late BIL had been having a second wife for 10 years before Kak Maz discovered she had a madu. So the lie had hurt the whole family badly, but it was a blessing in disguise for me.

The first year of marriage for me was a trial one, I had known hubby for 8 years before we got the married. I was of the idea that my money is mine, but his money is for sharing. But in the end I come to term that we have to share what we earn for the sake of the family. In marriage for me, it is more than just sex, it is a lot more. It is a relationship, a lot of giving and taking on both sides. It is a commitment by both parties to make the marriage work. Once both had given that commitment ang continue to stick to that commitment then the marriage works. Love can evaporates like any other emotions, there are times that we were happy and there are times that hates each others’ guts but at the end of the day we are still committed to the solemn lafaz nikah. We are not a perfect couple, but on the whole I would say, Alhamdullilah, so far Allah has blessed me with a good marriage. I hope it will last until we both passed on to the next world.

The Family Law

When I signed in to YM on Friday night, the 2 makciks were almost instantaneously buzz me. It was a long day for me, and I had just finished my housework for the night after my mak had her meal. She eats late as she wanted to finish he Isyak prayers with all the sunat prayers and what not.

When Kak Teh asked me "N, what do you think of the Family Law?" I was really "blur". This is the worst case or "blurness", I am even ashamed of writing down what my answer to her here. I was totally and shamefully ignorant of the MOST important issue for us women in Malaysia. MakAndeh said observantly, "Ni sah dah tak baca paper ni?" I did admit that I had not seen the paper for the day, online or offline. I did not have the luxury of the time to even listen to the Prime Time news on TV these days. So my past time of blogging in between solat Maghrib and Insyak (in my telekung) is now something of the past.

I am not going to elaborate on the new law that had been passed in the Parliament recently. Kak Teh and MakAndeh have done that already. So please go and read their blogs, if you haven't already. They have said enough and clearly too.

Can you imagine, if someone like me, who have got all the facilities, TV, newspapers, internet, could have missed it, what would be the implication to the women who are not as priviledged as I am? Those who day in day out slog hard to share the burden of the family livelihood. Do they have to find out the hard way, about the implication of the new law when and only when they go to syariah court to fight for their rights and their children rights. Only to be told that their polygamous husband has the right to their hard earn money or properties?

If you do not want to think about yourselves, then think about the ordinary Kak Lijah, Mak Timah, Tok Semah etc, etc, How would they survive if their piece of land on which their house is build is now being divided into 2 for the husband to have a second wife. I hope we have made this clear already.

The Cat is Out Of the Bag

I have read Arena's entry about her indecision, whether to let her husband know about her blog. I didn't leave a comment there, but I know how she feels, on which step to take. If she doesn't tell him, what if he finds out that she has a blog, will he feel left out and hurt? What if she decides to let him know, will he be her biggest critic that may end up in her feeling uneasy to blog after that? I can't influence Arena or any other blogger for that decision because I my self have not told my hubby the url of my blog.

Let me digress a bit.

I don't tell the existance of this blog to any one of my colleagues. Not even PS who has been my closest friend and colleague. To those who have been following this blog should know that PS is the one who travel with me on my business trips to KL. In fact she has met Makandeh, AuntieYan, Wynn and a former male blogger. She knows I use the nick AuntyN, I used to tell her about those blogs I have visited, talked about funny stuff people write in their blogs etc. But I didn't tell her that I have a blog and the blog url.

One day out of my own carelessness, I used her PC to check something on the net. I was having connection problem with my office laptop, I wanted to be sure that, whether it was my laptop or for some reason I was blocked from surfing the net. (Don't get any ideas, hehehehe , if I want to surf the "forbidden" sites I might just do it at home, why smear my reputation at work right?) So in the end I sent my laptop to the IT dept for re-configuration. While I was at PS' PC I just could not tear myself away from looking into my blog. At the end of it, I was so careless as not to delete the history. Well, there you go, it was like, me asking PS to indirectly read my blog right? She saw it and quickly asked another colleague to go into the blogspot.

Later, PS came to tell me that she had "found" my blog and informed the other lady. I had her promise not to tell anymore colleague on the existence of my blog. She said she wouldn't and yes, she can be trusted. The other lady, whom PS had informed told her that, by reading my blog she now feels up close and personal with my everyday life, She feels that she knows me better, not just as a superior at work. In her word she said that, she feels closer to me. I am glad of that.

That was like months ago. Recently, again I was exposed. Another colleague (this time in the KL office) discovered my blog. AMZA has been blog hopping for some time. She has read my blog before, some of her friends read it too. She said she suspected it for some time already that it could be me, but she wasn't sure. But one of my entries, I think it was the entry which I was describing my activities in KL office that confirmed it. When she revealed that she knows the url, I told her to keep it as a secret from the other colleagues as well. I trust she is keeping the secret because so far no other person in this company has revealed to me that they have found my blog. Takut aku boss aku baca blog ni, karang kena pulak tutup blog tak semena-mena kan. Not that I have been writing about work or work related issues that much any way.

As for my other half, as most people called thier hubby. He was always asking what I was doing in front of the PC for a long time almost every nite. My answer, would always be "tak ada apa-apa". He knows that I am chatting with friends and Kak Long, he knows that I surf the net. I cannot say that he disapproved because, when I have problems with the network like the other day with the network card he would be the one who would take the trouble to bring the PC to the shop. Although he thinks that I am wasting a lot of my time being on the net, he cannot change my mind or habit. So, in my defence (konon ni lah nak kata, aku tak buang masa kat internet tu) I told him that I am writing on the net as a blogger like his nephew Javard. The only thing is I am still hiding the url from him. So far I am still lucky because he doesn't have the inclination to surf the internet. Kena dok pedo-pedo (kata orang utara, pedo= thread carefully) ni, so that he will be like that for a long time. Mana lah tahu terkenan dengan blogging pulak tu. For sure kena hi-jack PC setiap malam sebab sama-sama nak update blog, heheh. Ohh TIDAKKKKKK.

I am not telling NOT because I do NOT want to share this part of my life with him, but there are other reasons why. One of them of course, is the fact that I could no longer whine about him, hehehe, when I need to do that. Tak boleh nak mengumpat dah kan hehe, sebab nanti makin teruk dia merajuk, atau kena censor lah pulak. Lagi teruk nanti kut kena tutup terus sebab dia kata dia malu. So far he is OK with it, not knowing what I have written, I think he is just giving me the space to let off my angst once in a while.

In some cases I would say that the spouse should be told, you have to decide on that, because you would know your spouse better. As for me, I am not telling him just yet, maybe one day, I will show him an entry, so that if ever I were to be gone from this world before him he can try to rekindle the memories of our lives together thru the blog.

I am going to have a very BUSY week-end, so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Saying Our Goodbyes

Today is bibik's flight home to Indonesia, This week activities in my household were also centered around her. Last Saturday, I took her shopping, she wanted to buy some stuff to bring home. T-shirts for her sons, tudungs for her grandmother and mother. Yes, she said she still have a grandmother (Bibik is 50 years old!!!). I changed some money into Indon rupiah for her and so on.

Sunday, I sent her to her former employer Puan J, bibik wanted to stay overnite for the last time there. Puan J ni pun dah nampak successful, She and the husband just received a Mercedes Benz 200 Kompressor just from doing the Gano business. They have been doing it all out for the last 7 years. It just prooved that with hard work, you can always be successful.

Monday, I had to get her passport and the letter from the Immigration to allow her to go home. Later I had to fetch her from Puan J's. Tuesday, I remitted the balance of her salary money to the person she always sent the money to. I am worried for the safety of the money when she arrived in Jogjakarta. But she said that, the bank charges there are very high. Macam lintah darat pulak no. And lastly today, Wednesday, we said out goodbyes to bibik. She has been a loyal maid and part of our family for a long time. It is very likely that she may not be coming back here again. Her age and a few other factors will make it difficult for her to come back to Malaysia to work.

Bibik's flight was at 9.05 am from Penang, to KLIA. Then, she will board another flight to Jogjakarta at 12.00 noon. We left home at 7.00 am to try to make it on time for the flight. All of us, even my mak went to send her off. I was confident that we would made it on time, but the traffic was busy during that time, people were going to work, and there was an unusual jam on the bridge. We dicovered later that 4 cars were involved in an accident. They kissed each others butt obviously in the haste to get to the other end. We did arrive with just enough time to check in the luggages. pay for the overweight baggage and get her the boarding pass. She had to get another boarding pass to Jogjakarta in KLIA because the next flight would be Garuda Air. Just had time to salam, hugs and off she went to board the flight. We all pray that she will have a safe flight home.

Back home, we bought breakfast and some lauk. That would only mean that I would not need to cook lunch anymore. But need to do some training and re-arranging of house work. Syia, being the youngest, has always been the pampered one. Being the one who bibik took care of since her very first day, need to be trained to do simple house work. We started with how to cook rice. She measured the rice, the water and place them into the rice cooker. Then there is another pot for maktok. (Maktok eats brown rice at the advice of the doctor). Then the feeding of the cats and chicken in the reban. She even put clothes into the washing machine to be washed.

We discussed about the daily help when they started school, Ayin said, we need to have someone be at home until she gets home from school, latest she said by 3.00 pm. The rest, we will try to manage between ourselves. They know that they will have to take part in helping us around the house. We willl manage somehow.

Now, the difficult part is to leave the house unattended or when I need to bring the girls out shopping for school stuffs. Or when the girls want to go out to have some fun. Someone amongst us need to sacrifice the time.

It was difficult for bibik to say goodbye to us and like wise for us to her. I called Kak Long to let bibik talked to her on the phone and she was already tearful. Bibik wrote us a note, saying thank you and to ask for forgiveness. It was difficult for her to express that face to face.

We all are thankful to bibik, May Allah Bless her and will always protect her and give her abundance rezeki in her homeland. We do not know whether we will be meeting her again. We hope InsyaAllah we will one fine day.

Derma Darah & Pingat Emas

Angah is part of the team. Tahniah untuk mereka.

Khamis lepas, semasa aku bercanda dengan internet ni, Kak Long anak dara aku tu buat miss call.Diorang ni biasa dah macam tu, sebab nak save kredit diorang tu. Aku call lah balik, kejap je cakap tu sebab dia tanya pasal duit yuran hostel. Tup, tup aku terlupa nak sampaikan salam orang kat dia.

Kak Long : " Hah, apasal tetiba kirim salam ni? "

Aku : " Tak de lah tadi mama cakap mama nak call, tanya lerr kut sapa2 nak kirim salam. :-) "

Kak Long :" Owh, OK w'kumsalam. Kak Long tengah makan. Jap g nakpi derma darah. Boleh kan? "

She asked permission for places she wants to go and things she wants to do.

Aku : " OK ".

Later, another missed called.

I called her back.

Aku : " Awat pulak? "

Kak Long : " Tak leh derma, orang tu kata darah tak cukup haemoglobin"

Aku : " La, badan besar macam tu pun tak cukup darah? " (Gurau dengan dia)

Kak Long : Dia gelak " Itu lah Kak Long cakap camtu tadi, tapi dia kata darah cair "

She sounded disappointed.

Aku : " Tanya tak nak buat macam mana nak bagi naik tu? "

Kak Long : " Dia suruh makan hati, limpa, badam cam gitu lah.

Aku : " Tak pa lah, next time. Nanti beli badam makan banyak-banyak. Tak tanya ka bila depa nak mai balik? "

Kak Long : " Dah tanya tadi "

She sounded very dissapointed. Memang berkobar-kobar dia ni nak derma darah. Masa mula masuk dulu tu dia belum lagi 18 tahun. Jadi diorang kata kat dia dia belum cukup umur nak menderma. Ni dah kena reject sekali lagi. Aku ni pulak terasa kedekut sebab tak pulak pernah terasa nak derma darah.

OK ke Kak Long tu. Blood group dia O. Lupa nak tanya rH + atau -ve. Tapi perlukah aku membawa dia pergi check-up ke apa ke? Dia memang nampak sihat, cergas jugaklah. Should I bring her for a check-up or anything?

Jaga Tepi Kain

Memang aku pun dah fed-up dok asyik pakai baju yang sama je, nak lah jugak pakai something new.

Nasib baik meja aku bukan yang jenis terbuka kat depan, tak lah orang nampak kalau aku duduk bersila kat atas kerusi aku ni. Memang itulah cara aku duduk selalu pun. Bukak kasut angkat kaki bersila atas kerusi. Posisi yang paling comfortable.

On a subtle note, tepi kain atau tepi kaki seluar ni kena jaga selalu. Mana lah tau kut kut terpalit tahi ayam ke, tahi kucing ke. Namun macam tu kadang-kadang kita ni agak keterlaluan menjaga tepi kain. Kalau jaga tepi kain sendiri tak apa lah juga, ni dok sibuk jaga tepi kain orang sampai kadang-kadang sampai tahap mengutuk, mencela, menghina dan mengaibkan orang lain tu. Tiba-tiba pandang kat tepikain kita terbau tahi pulak.

Mereka ini mungkin just innocent bystanders.

Kalau kita tahu jiran kita kena dera ka tak kan kita masih nak ambil sikap tak mau jaga tepi kain dia kan?

OK lah aku nak duduk diam diam dah lepas ni......

p/s Untuk seorang adik,

I know you are hurting
I know things seem to be ALL against you
I know your journey to happiness is long and full of thorns
There is still light at the end of the tunnel
There are still people who care
There are still people that need you to love them

My prayers are with you.

Menjaga Mak & Ayah

Bila baca entry Kak Teh tentang mak dia, tergenang air mata. Aku tahu perasaan Kak Teh, pasti terasa "helpless" kat sana terkenang mak yang tak sihat. Sama-sama kita panjatkan doa untuk kesihatan mak Kak Teh. InsyaAllah mak Kak Teh, sihat semula.

Jadi kita pun lepaskan tangan.

Dari pengalaman aku pun bukan senang nak bela orang tua. Terutama yang banyak cikadak dan kerenah tu. Boleh hilang sabar dibuatnya. Selama yang aku ingat, mak aku dulu kena bela/jaga nenek aku, emak mentuanya. Mak aku semasa dia menikah dengan ayah dia dah yatim piatu. Semasa hayat arwah nenek yang kami panggil "tok" tu memang cerewet. Sebelum dia meninggal pun dia dah nyanyuk, bila kita dah mandikan dia, dia masih dok kata dia belum mandi. Namun aku tengok mak sabar melayan mentua dia.

Masa mak mentua aku sakit, hubby tak sampai hati tengok mak dia dalam keadaan yang kurang memuaskan di rumah adik dia. Cuma kami sempat jaga arwah MIL selama sebulan sahaja sebelum dia meninggal tu. MIL ni seorang yang terlalu baik. Mulutnya manis sampai ke akhir hayat, tak de nak marah-marah. Aku pun syukur jugak sebab masa arwah duduk rumah aku anak-anak tolong sikit-sikit jaga nani diorang. Masa tu bibik tak ada, Kak Long di tingkatan 2, angah darjah 6. Kak Long sekolah petang dia temankan nani sampai hubby balik, masa lunch untuk bersihkan MIL.

Kalau dia nak makan tak mau makan kat rumah, kena kami almost setiap malam bawak dia makan kat luar. Dalam kereta dia tidor, sampai rumah dia mula mengelisah. Merata jugak kami berubat, ubat doktor, ubat kampung semua buat dah. Sampai satu tahap aku cakap dengan sorang doktor tu aku agak "it was all in his mind".

Dulu MIL pun pernah terasa macam tu.

Aku buat semua ni pun bukan apa, aku ingat satu hari aku pun akan tua jugak. Anak-anak aku perempuan semua nya. Kalau aku umur panjang sampai nyanyok (nauzubillah) aku takut jugaklah nanti anak cucu meluat dengan aku. Aku harap aku bila tua nanti tak lah menyusahkan anak cucu.

Masa tu dah terlambat dah.

S Stands for Shopping

Kak Yan's comment in my previous post triggered this entry.

My sister S is a shopoholic, I can say that to her. I don't know where she has the energy and the money to do that. The energy perhaps because she is focussing all her energy and thoughts away from her marrital problems, so the energy is being diverted to the shopping. Pretty expensive activities, don't you think. Money? She is a working lady. Having the right "kaki" I can tell you the rombongan pengantin had turned out into the rombongan shopping.

During the Trengganu trip, my sister S went with her youngest daughter, my abang ngah, kak ngah, my niece Ina (Abang Ngah's daughter) and their other niece. My younger brother S and his family (wife and 2 kids). Abang Long and wife, SIL (kak long's colleagues) as well as a cousin and his wife Kak Nas. The ladies turned out to be are all shopoholics.

They started the journey at about 8.30 am from Penang. My sister S, along the way kept calling me to either ask where we were or to tell where they were at that time. The first stop was Bukit Bunga (somewhere in Kelantan), the excuse was to ease themselves and while others have gone to the toilet, the others would shop. My reaction was, "What? you all are already shopping?" She laughed and said, "Not me, but the others lah". I saw Ina and her cousin was wearing Garfiels bedroon slippers in the hotel room which she said she bought for RM10 per pair.

Then there was a stop for makan, again it the bus stopped for over an hour because someone went shopping. Purggghh, lucky for me I didn't follow them. Otherwise I would be so bored waiting for them to come back to the bus.

The next day after the nikah ceremony was over, S was already feeling bored. She asked around if the others would like to adjourned to Pasar Payang. Lucky the others were in tune with her thoughts. However they had only about 1.5 hours of shopping time there. She came back to the hotel, complaining that there were not enough time for her to go round the whole of Pasar Payang!!!!. I met S and my other siblings as they came down from the bus in front of the hotel. I was going to get something to eat for the kids who were in the swimming pool. She asked me whether I and hubby would want to go to the Pasar that evening, if yes, she wanted to follow us to continue shopping. Told her hubby said that he wanted to go but he was sleeping and as far as I know, the pasar would be closed by 5.00 pm. At that time, it was already almost 5.00 pm. Much to her disappointment, we would not made it in time to go there that evening. But after dinner, we the adults, leaving the kids behind at the hotel went shopping for keropok lekor/losong, ikan kering etc aroung Rusila, Chendering area.

That night, my sis S and my abang ngah had already been planning the route back to Penang. They wanted to suggest that the travel back route would pass through Kota Baru. That way they can all stop at the Pasar Khadijah. At first Abang Long didn't agree but Kak Nas (another shopoholic lady), had told Abang Long similar plan. S was so happy to hear that.

So along they go home, stopping to shop at Kota Baru. When they boarded the bus again after the shopping spree, I received an SMS from S.

S : "Aku untung RM15 juai kain kat Kak Nas hehehe"

Me : " Oi sempat buat business lagi dalam bas tu no? Hehe. How come?"

S : "Aku beli kain Siam 5 pasang , dia tengok masa bas dah jalan, dia nak bagi anak dia tak cukup so mintak nak beli, Aku muck-up lah"

Me : "Pandai lah hang".

All in all she bought 5 pairs of materials (1 in Pasar Payang, 4 in Kota Bahru). At least 2 tudung, and some blouses and Tshirts for her children. Kak Lang bought some talam for the hantaran since her eldest daughter will be getting married next year. Kak Ngah also bought some talam, she said just for spares, 3 has 3 unmarried daughters. They bought some beras siam, I got 1 packet and I think the whole bus was full of things from the shopping spree. :-), :-) Whateverlah asal diorang ni happy kan..

As for me, didn't have much time for shopping. When we were having our second breakfast with Po, my abang lang was already calling me.

Abang Lang :" Hangpa kat mana ni?"

Me : " Nak pi makan nasi dagang sat"

Abang Lang : " hah!! Nak pi makan lagi?"

Me : " Ada orang nak belanja ni"

Abang Lang : " OK"

Half hour later,

Abang Lang : " Hoi, hang pa tak habih makan lagiiiii?"

Me : "Dah habih dah, dok balik hotel ni nak check-out"

Abang Lang : " La tak check-out lagi?"

Me : " Dak lagi, hehehe. Awat tak larat nak shopping dah ka? " Sambil gelak.

Abang Lang : " Ha lah, lagi lama lagi banyak duit aku habih ni"

In the end we made it there and do a bit of shopping before we travelled home.

I am not much of a shopper really, usually I will go shopping when necessary.

Anyone has got an interesting shopping spree lately?

Trengganu Le Ni...

In the end, kami bertolak dari rumah pukul 4.00 pagi selepas dapat tidur 2 - 3 jam. Jadinya, pertukaran driver pun berlaku agak kerap sebab mengantuk.

Kebanyakan pun nampak lengang saja. Bila masuk ke negeri Trengganu baru nampak cantik, especially bila dah nampak pantai, ombak laut dan kampung nelayan. Hubby pun dok nasihat anak-anak.

Hubby : "Anak-anak, nanti bila dah ada boyfriend, nak kawin, jangan cari orang jauh-jauh OK? "

Anak-anak : Sambil gelak. "Awat baba?"

Hubby : "Susah jauh-jauh macam ni. Tak larat kita nak pi".

Hubby : "Tanya dulu depa dari mana? Kalau jauh-jauh, macam Trengganu ka, kata reject, tak mau"

* Ada ke yang nak nangis ni?*

Anak -anak tambah kuat gelak.

Hubby : "Tengaok macam mama dengan baba, dekat tak susah. Nak beraya pun tak payah kelahi. Sebab tu baba dengan mama loving selalu"

Gelak sakan semua orang.

Aku : "Kalau Sabah (macam anak sedara baba?), Sarawak, orang overseas ka macam mana?"

Hubby : " Kalau Sabah atau Sarawak cancel tak mau OK? "

(Looking at me) Macam anak Kak apa tu?"

Aku : "Kak Tam (my cousin) ?"

Hubby : " Haah Kak Tam, anak dia kawin dengan orang US pulak tu, dah kena duduk sana. Lagi haru no? "

Aku : "Kalau dah jodoh depa nak buat macam mana? "

Hubby : "Itulah, nak buat macam mana kena terima jugak lah".

Pantai pun cantik. I like the place, kalau ke sana lagi, InsyaAllah maybe kami duduk sana lagi. Unless someone boleh rekomen somewhere better.

Walaupun diorang ni tempted tengok air laut, tapi kami tak benarkan anak-anak, dan anak-anak sedara mandi di pantai. Jadinya, diorang enjoy mandi kat swimming pool sajalah. Syia sampai nak sunburn jugaklah sebab lama kat dalam pool. Dapatlah dia lepas kan gian lama tak swimming tu.

Sabtu dah sibuk urusan pengantin. Akad nikah kat rumah pengantin perempuan pada pukul 11.00 pagi. Kami sampai elok-elok sebelum 11.00 pagi. Mungkin sebab sekarang dah ada kursus kawin agaknya. Semua dah di ajar dalam kursus tu.

Selesai bab akad nikah, sarung cincin bertukar hantaran dan bersanding sikit2, kami di jamu makan. Buffet style, simple saja jamuan pun compare dengan majlis kat sebelah Penang. Mungkin sebab kami orang Penang memang kaki makan jadi rasa simple saja tengok majlis kat Trengganu ni. Dah lama tunggu lepas makan, adik aku S dah mengelisah sebab tak tau apa nak buat duduk lama2 kat rumah orang. Dia pun plan-plan, ajak semua ke Pasar Payang. Nak shopping lah apa lagi. Abang Long dan isteri bersama nak beranak dia tinggal kat rumah kenduri sedangkan yang lain dah pergi shopping. Aku & famili ikut saja bas tu. Hubby dok mengelisah nak buang air kecik, so kami decide balik hotel saja. Abang Lang dengan anak2 dia ikut kami balik hotel. Yang perempuan2 (Dik Na, 3 tahun dan Kak Yah, 6 tahun- panggilan diorang ni), nak mandi kolam. Jadi petang tu aku dan anak2 habiskan masa babysit budak2 kecik tu mandi kolam. Seronok lah mak diorang (SIL) bershopping tanpa anak kecil2 tu.

Ahad pagi masa breakfast Po telefon. Mula tu aku tolak undangan dia nak bawa pergi makan Nasi Dagang sebab dah breakfast. Tapi persuasion power En Po ni memang kuat. Dia datang ke hotel pukul 10.00 lebih. Masa tu semua adik beradik yang lain dah pun check out sebab diorang naik bas, diorang bertolak awal selepas di jamu oleh besan Abang Long.

Masa Po datang, hubby pada mulanya tak nak keluar jumpa dia. Bukan pasal hubby sombong atau jeles. Mata hubby sebelah kanan dah merah. Panas kut. Jadi sakit sampai ke kepala, sejak dari malam sebelum tu lagi dah jadi macam tu. Aku suruh dia cari Eyemo dia cuma dapat beli Optrex. Lepas breakfast dia makan panadol dan tidur sekejap. Aku dah risau sebab nanti takut aku kena drive sepanjang jalan ke KL. Penat sangat drive long distance sorang2. Sebab badan dah lama ni :-). Nasib baik masa aku dok explain kat Po, hubby sakit mata, hubby muncul. Nasib baik hubby termakan pujukan Po, sebab memang nasi dagang kat situ sedap. Cuma, sebabkan orang Penang makan kari yang tak manis, rasa sedikit janggal. But overall, memang sedap. Terimakasih Po, it was really nice meeting you. When we told hubby's sister that I met Po through the net, she was really suprised (Baca : terkejut beruk dia hehehe). She didn't expect hubby to be that open minded benarkan isteri dia berkawan dengan lelaki di internet pulak tu. Itu aku nama kan TRUST!!!

Lepas balik makan nasi dagang kami pun check-out dan terus menuju ke Pasar Payang. Abang Lang tunggu kami kat sana. Dia asyik telefon aku berkali2 sebab tak nampak rupa kami dah berjam2 dia tunggu Kak Lang bershopping. Dah banyak duit habis agaknya tu hehehe sebab Kak Lang suri rumah sepenuh masa, shopping memang handal tu.

Terimakasih atas kunjungan anda.

Monsoon Wedding

Sejak dari awal cuti sekolah lagi, banyak jugak jemputan kenduri kahwin yang aku terima. 2 orang abang pupu i.e cousins brothers (anak2 adik mak aku) telah pun selamat mengahwinkan anak-anak masing-masing. Tarikh kenduri pun selang seminggu saja tu.

Pada hujung minggu ni, anak Abang Long, Mamat, pulak nak mengakhiri zaman bujang dia.

Muda belia lagi, baru 26 tahun umur dia.

Tarikh dia sehari selepas tarikh Abang Long buat kenduri kat rumah dia. Seminggu lepas tu kakak aku, Kak M (yang Tj kata terrer tu!!) pun nak buat kenduri jugak. Anak perempuan sulong Kak M, Salwa (segagan atau sama baya dengan Mamat) pun nak kahwin akhir Disember ni. Walaupun Kak M berbesan orang Trengganu jugak, aku rasa aku tak akan ke Terengganu sekali lagi agaknya. Kak M tak pun pelawa kami untuk pergi kenduri di rumah besan dia tu, kami assume tak payah pergi lah. Kenduri besan Kak M pertengahan Januari 2006.

Kawan aku kat utara pun nak menerima seorang lagi menantu. Awal tahun 2005 dulu tu dah langsung dah si adik.

Baiknya hati dia, tolong Kak N dia ni. Dapatlah aku tempah bilik hotel tu, tak lah berapa jauh dari rumah kenduri kata dia, 20 minit saja dengan kereta. Aku kenalah percaya cakap dia sebab aku tak tahu pun kat mana tempat tu :-). Oleh kerana dia sangat baik hati tu, hubby dah janji nak bawak Buah Pala jeruk untuk kawan aku tu. Seronok dia bila dia dengar tu, kata dia buah pala pun sedap jugak tu. Aku kena pulak dok peringatkan hubby untuk beli jeruk buah pala tu, takut nanti, dia terlupa, malu aku nanti. Mintak tolong, dah tu janji pulak tu tapi tak bawak.

There were 3 events which I have to be thankful for.

Angah is not at home, she is at the hockey tounament in Seremban. We crossed path, I was on the way home from KL, she was travelling down south. Would not be seing her for 2 weeks.

Friday evening, hubby said that he would be going to visit his sister Kak Maz, who came back to Penang. He said we (Ayin, Syia and I) could go with him. We did. On the way to Kak Maz's 3rd son's house in Penang, Angah called and told me that she had red spots all over her body. My first reaction was " Are you feverish?" She said she wasn't but right now feeling slightly feverish. " Please drink lots of water" I didn't want to say the word that was already inside my brain. I was scared stiff. She said " the water here is rusty, ma. The facilities are so terrible". I asked again " Isn't there any mineral or bottled water?" She said no. OMG, please don't make it dengue. I said please ask your teacher to bring you to the hospital, told her I was scared it could be dengue. She said her trainer was on the way to the hostel to take her to the hospital.

OK then, much later I smsed to get the latest news, she was on the way to the hospital with 3 teachers and another girl who had the same symptom. I was quiet all night long at the nephew's home. On the way back to our house, I was too scared to event speak. I was praying hard that Angah didn't contract dengue fever. Smsed her, but there was no answer, when I called, I was greeted by the voicemail. Desperately waiting for some answers, I called some of her friends whom I know were with her. It was late so it was no suprise that I was getting voicemails from all. I didn't know how I slept but managed to do so.

The next morning, the first thing I did was to call one of her friend's no. A lady teacher picked up as the girl was in the toilet. Told me that Angah had just had ellergy and she was doing fine. She couldn't answer my called because her handphone battery was too low. I was so relieved to hear that. Managed to later talked to Angah herself to ensure myself she was OK. She was given a jab for the ellergy.

Alhamdulillah, Angah is OK.

My younger sister came to my house on Saturday and handed me 2 pairs of blouses. S bought herself a few pairs and bought for me 2 pairs. However she over estimated my size. Both were TOO big for me. Can't quite remember when did we ever given each other presents anyway. I guessed she was just grateful for the support hubby and I have been giving her. Said thanks, but told her I would have to exchange for smaller sizes. Offered her dinner which she accepted after seeing ikan terubuk belah belakang on the plate :-), :-). She even invited her son W to come over to eat dinner at our house, which he did in time to sit and enjoy the food with my hubby.

Alhamdulillah for the 2 blouses.

Today, Sunday, went out with my hubby. The plan was for him to renew his car roadtax in Kulim, prior to that we had to buy breakfast for mak, the girls and bibik. Did that and off we went to the wet market to buy fish and veggies. Sent back the things and we were on the way to Kulim. But the Takaful office was closed, miscalculation on my part because I thought that they would be opened like the JPJ etc, in Kedah. No, they are working from Monday to Saturday. Their week-end is Sunday unlike some other organisations in Kedah. Too bad. We were both already so hungry by then, stopped to have a brunch. Told hubby need to go pay the streamyx since my connection was down, I thought it was due to me not paying the bill. I usually forget the bill until TM disconnect me. But that was not the only reason. Couldn't get connected even after I came home a few hours later. Called 1 300 number again and after a few calls, was told that my network driver was not updated. At first, I thought we had to go to the shop which had changed the network card a few weeks ago, I found the disk and update it myself with the help of hubby. Still couldn't get connected, had another technical advise session with the TM guy, what a nice and friendly person he was!!!. In the end, it was much later that I managed to get myself back onto the net.

While we were out, I told hubby that I need to go and exchange the blouses. Since the shop was empty of customers, we were able to pick and chose and try freely. Found the Indon assistant to be helpful and friendly. After much trying and choosing, I finally found the suitable one for the exchange. On top of that I had another pair of baju kurung, compliment from my hubby, hehehe.

Alhamdulillah for the understanding and generous hubby. Although he is always teasing me, for always "wasting" my time on the net, chatting and browsing, but he went all out to help when the connection was down. Was already prepared to take the PC back to the shop had it not been resolved. And of course I have another brand new baju kurung to go to the weddings in December *hint for the next entry*

Perjalanan Pulang

A little space to spice up your life. Hehehehe.

Sampai kat hotel, aku fon PS, untuk dia bukak pintu. Nowadays the hotel bagi 1 saja kunci, kesian PS kena bangun buka pintu untuk aku. PS tak ikut kami sebab, dia nak study. Friday dia ada exam.

Dah masuk, aku sambil dok pack up barang2 aku, sambil hantar sms kat sorang kawan tu. Aku cuma nak make sure dia OK saja lah.

Tidur pun lewat jugak dah, dekat pukul 1 pagi, seriau jugak takut aku tak terbangun pagi, sebab, aku nak kena check-out awal selepas breakfast.

Dua minggu Angah kat Seremban tu.

The meeting went well. I didn’t expect it NOT to go well anyway. The only thing is it gives me the impression that I may be retiring earlier than I plan to. Takeovers are sinister tools, but life goes on. It’s a MUST. Just need some planning, back-up plan, contigency plans. Kita merancang, Allah yang tentukan. Aku tawakal sajalah.

Masa tu dah pukul 3.00 ptg dah. Cadang nak singgah ke Cyberjaya jenguk Kak Long sebelum pulang.

Sampai kat hostel MMU, aku pinjam towel Kak Long sebab aku nak mandi dan tukar baju. Satu hari ber 3 piece suit, rasa dah rimas. Tengok PS pun letih, dia tidor masa aku drive tu aku drive terus sampai Bukit Gantang. Lagipun hujan sepanjang jalan malas aku nak stop kat Tapah macam selalu tu. Kami stop situ, aku solat Maghrib/Isyak, makan sikit, beli buah2an sikit, baru PS take over the wheel sampai rumah dia. Sampai rumah aku dah pukul 10.00 malam. On TV tapi rasanya TV tu yang tengok aku bukan aku tengok TV pun. Ngantuk sangat, terjaga sekejap masa hubby balik (tapi tak tanya pukul berapa kat hubby macam Kak Yan cerita dia kelentong Hero Tamil dia tu :-) )

Pagi ni dah kembali ke ofis aku. Alhamdulillah aku selamat dalam perjalanan pulang.

What Am I doing in KL?

I did tell a few people that I would be in KL these few days. Thanks to Dewa many more have come to know about it. I was in KL last week-end ( a week after Raya) because Kak Long was going to start a new semester. I am in KL this week for work related business. We have audits, and meeting with the boss. Tomorrow, thursday, would be my last day in KL. After an important meeting tomorrow morning I and PS will be driving back to Penang.

As usual, when I am on "business" trip, I would not be seing my relatives. I use the opprtunity to meet up with friends. For this trip, I have had a few friends in mind. First when we arrived, PS called up a former colleague. She enticed him to the treat of my rendang ayam. It has been 2 years since we had met him. PS, AK and I were working in the same factory 10 years ago. Althoughh we all have left the company but the friendship has not broken. We keep in touch and once in a while when we (PS and I) are in KL we would call him up for a meal.

At the same time I called Kak Long to find out where she would be. She had smsed me earlier to say that she would be going to watch the Harry Potter's movie. Since she was at the MidValley Megamall, I asked her to come to the hotel, to spend the night there. I would be sending her back to her hostel just in time for her lecture the following morning. She came.

AK came and the 3 of us had such a good gebang session until 11 pm. We were teasing each other, reflecting and reminiscing the past. It was fun. Dewa came in between to claim his rendang ayam. Dewa had been pestering me for the rendang eversince he had a chance to taste a little bit of rendang daging the previous week-end. I gave him only a wee bit of rendang since he professed that he didn't like rendang. I heard he had a good meal with the rendang with his sweetheart. Ye ke adik Dewa oi?

My intention for cooking the rendang is to give someone here in the KL office. She has been helping us with lots of things so I thought I could be just so kind to give her something that is specially prepared from the house.

I had also made a date with a blogger who also work within the area of my KL office. Our meeting schedule was on Tuesday. So early Tuesday, I smsed her to see if the date was still on. She said InsyaAllah. In the evening we set where to meet and I took her back to the hotel. Treat her with the leftover rendang and give her the balance rendang and kari daging to take home. I hope the yamtuan and herself would not be having diarrhea from the food!!!. What amazed me is that she admitted to having called another blogger to find out what type of person I am. I may have been like a "monster" in other people's eyes. I do hope that you, my dear, have found me to be NOT an intimidating person. I am the same in and out of blog.

Tuesday night we didn't go out. MA and 2 of the brood came with the KFC meal. So we lepak in the room and gebang until midnight!!!. If not for the adik who was so very bored being couped up in the room with 2 older ladies yakking (read: sampai tak ingat dunia!!) we wouldn't have stopped. That is MA and me, we both have been good friends since we found each other on the blogging world. Some people think we were "mengayam ketupat", well, no really.

Tonight, PS and I would be going out for a bit of makan nearby and later would come back to lepak at the room. Anybody taking us to teh tarik or something?

After tomorrrow's very important meeting, we will be travelling back to Penang. I hope things will be looking good for me one way or the other as the result of the meeting tomorrow. InsyaAllah.

Thank you

Thanks all for the comments in my previous entry.

It is difficult to decide actually whether to get a new maid or not. The decision NOT to get a new maid is also because I do not want to risk getting a maid who is not reliable. I cannot take the risk of coming home to an empty house because the new maid has run away. Noone at home but my mak. My mak will definitely call me if that happened. But between the time I can get a replacement, what would be my action? That is why I have been pondering on what should be the best way for me and my family.

My mak being at my home is a blessing for me. Taking care of her is the responsibility that I will have to do. My mak is not the easiest person to live with. There are times which I would be afraid that I would hurt her thru my actions or words. There are times when I would be angry when my siblings would come to tell her their problems, or she worries about her other grandchildren.

That is her way of showing she loves and care for her family. She has regrets especially about her relationship with my late father, but, that is something I cannot undone. All we can do is offer duas to Allah to bestow HIS blessing and forgiveness to him. Other than that I will try to make her as comfortable as possible and care for her. I am also counting my blessing for giving me the jodoh as good as my husband. For he treats my mak like his own. He showered her with love as though she is her own mother.

I am actually trying to get my new SIL (Shah's wife) who is a housewife to come and sit in during the day at my house. My brother Shah is often not at home. I am not treating my SIL as my maid, I am not even asking her to do my housework for me. She will only to keep my mak company until when I get home, make sure food is served on the table for lunch for my mak. She can eat with mak and get to know her better. At the same time, she can learn some cooking skill from me ehem, ehem. The rest of the house work we will divide within the family. My daughters like Anedra said are all so far are reliable, we have tested them before even when they were younger (when my MIL was staying with us before her death). I know they will be helping me.

Blogging, Insyaallah will not be stopped, I need my sanity as well, hehehe, a place to vent my "frustrations" etc. But then I may not be able to be as active. What better way than to vent them out for the whole world to know right? But that may not be the only reason. Since I started blogging, I seem to have a love for writing. I may not have the skill to write a book but blogging is a way I can express myself.

Just be a little patient with me. I am trying my best to be the "wonder makcik" A career woman, a wife, mom, daughter and a blogger!!!. Is there a place for me to re-charge my energy and super power? :-).

Why Do I Need A Helper at Home?

My daughters are almost grown up. They are no longer toddlers. Can they wash their won clothes? They can. It is just putting them into the washing machine and later take the clothes to dry. Can they iron their own cloths, they can. In fact that’s what they are doing right now. My maid usually do the washing, folding and iron their school uniforms. When we had a lapse of time without maid, they ironed their own uniform as well. Kak Long is in the univ., so 1 person less to take care off. So why DO I need a maid?

Cooking. I do most of the cooking anyway. Bibik cooks only during the day time when to feed the girls and mak. But if we have no maid, can my girls cook? Well, they can do simple cooking. They can cook the rice, they can re-heat the food without burning the kitchen or hurt themselves. They can fry eggs on their own. They can do simple dishes on their own. They can cook their own maggi mee if they want to. Can I trust them to cook on their own, without an adult supervision?. So far I can, it was proven that they could do it when they were younger. When we had no maid, the time when bibik went home and we thought that we may not want another maid, my daughters reheat the food for berbuka during Ramadhan, cook the rice, and set the table. During the recent Ramadhan they were there to help out in the kitchen for the whole month. So, again WHY do I need a maid?

Cleaning of the house. This part the girls are a bit lazy. But they will not talk back if hubby instruct them to do anything. A little delayed reaction when I asked them to do but still will after the instruction gets a higher tone of voice. They are asked to clean the toilets too when necessary. Only that, there will be lots of work for me after office. My house will be a little topsy turvy, but not that bad. Hubby helps around the house. He does a lot of cleaning and sweeping too. I am not at all alone in doing the housework. In fact most of the tidy up of the house it had become hubby’s work eventhough we have a maid. So, why do I need a maid?

Am I just plain lazy or a show off? Without a maid my life would not be as easy as now. Lots of work are done by the maid. Without a maid, we have more privacy, much easier to go anywhere without having to consider whether she needs to stay home or follow us.

The real reason is because my mak is staying with us. When the girls go to school there will be no one left at home. Mak although not bedridden but she has difficulty to walk. We need to have someone at home all the time. She cannot cook for herself now. At her age she is prone to falling down and hurt herself. She has fallen a few times before. At one time at the cost of her left arm.

That is the main reason why I need to have a maid. As long as my mak is at home living with us, I need to have someone at home all the time. Unless I am prepared to stop work and be a full time housewife.

Bibik’s visa is expiring end November. She is going home. I am considering options, like getting another maid or getting a local person to come on a daily basis to help look after mak. Most likely we are opting for the second options. That way if we have to travel mak can always follow us.

Another thing for sure, I will later find myself having less time to be on the net. With the work and the housework, I may be too tired to even switch on the PC. I will try not to abandon the blog, but, if you all do not see me frequenting your blogs or updating mine, please forgive me. My family comes first before the blog. I will miss a lot of blogs and a lot of people. Will try my best still to keep in touch.

Habis dah rasanya cerita raya ni. Let's move on.

I have been lucky so far with bibik. In fact from the day I decided to have a maid, way back in 1993, bibik is the ONLY Indon maid that I have. She has been with us since then. She went back to Indonesia on 2 (1 year each time) occasions and always decided that she wasn’t going to come back to Malaysia. And yet due to the inability to make ends meet, she returned. The first time she came to Malaysia, Suwarti from Jawa Tengah (Jateng) left her kampung without the knowledge of her husband. Her husband was working in Jakarta which is like 700 KM from her kampung. He would come back to the village once in the blue moon, and between that there would be no mews. When she was left to take care of 5 sons, and when there was a chance for her to come to Malaysia, she boarded a ferry to Medan and then to Malaysia. She came through an agent and a lady took her in as their maid.

After 10 months of working for the lady, Puan J decided to take the early retirement option from her company. Her children were already growing up so she NO longer need a maid. Through her friend (who happenes to be hubby’s cousin) we got to know of this. We decided to take in Suwarti as our maid. She prooves to be a reliable maid, she will do the work without me having to say what need to be done. My daughters called her makcik and have NEVER refered to her as our maid. She is treated like one of the family. My youngest daughter is spoilt by her, she refers to Syia as her own daughter. This is because she took care of Syia since the day Syia was born. She "kendung" Syia (Indon style) when she was doing her work around the house. We had to keep one of her sarung when she went back home the first time. Syia was too small to tell. The second tine went home it was a period of 1 year. Her husband passed away when she was at home.

Tried many things to support the family, even sold off a piece of land for that purpose. In the end she decided to come back to Malaysia. This time around she didn’t contact us, she contacted Puan J again. Although Puan J has no necessity for a maid, she still took her in out of kindness of her heart. After 1 year, Puan J again asked us whether we want to have her again. After 2 years of no maid, we could survive, but Syia was always asking if she could come back, and we feel that we can afford to have her stay in with us again. So we obliged her. We took in Suwarti again.

I guessed she is so good, that my SIL (kak Maz ) was eyeing her to take care of her 3rd son’s child. Kak Maz mentioned it to me before, that if ever I decide that I no longer want to have a maid at home, to pass Suwarti to her son. I told her the reason why I still need to maintain a maid for the time being. I thought it had settled. But again when we were in Sungai Petani visiting the second SIL (Kak Fadz), Kak Maz’s eldest son mentioned to his sister-in-law to ask me for my maid. So I posted some questions to HM (Kak Maz’s the eldest son) to clarify why I need a maid still right now. I then told Kak Maz’s daughter-in-law to tell her how to get a maid. Their fear is whether they could get a good maid. You hear nasty things happened in the papers on how some maid just abandoned or kidnaped or injured the children. Getting someone they know and they can trust, would definitely be a plus point. They have also by the way treat my maid as part of our family. Some of them even give her duit raya.

Told her that I can recommend 2 reliable agents who so far I have seen have got good records. One is the one I am dealing with for Suwarti, the other one is the one PS (my colleague) is using. PS mother has diemntia, so need proper taken care of, so far she has got 3 maids over the period of 6 years. And they are all reliable. Getting a good maid is a gamble but, when there is a we need to get one. The other thing is when we a have a maid, we have them like part of our family, not like a maid. I have seen maids being treated like animals before, which we have no heart to do. We treat her like a family, she eats with us most of the time not seperately in the kitchen or only eat certain food reserved for her. She has the freedom to move and if she
wants to visit Puan J I will usually send and fetch her.

I have been blessed with my bibik so far. She has indicated recently that she wants to go home. Asked her whether she would want to come back, she said probably NOT, since her mak is old and cannot take care of her sons anymore. Do I have to look for another maid?

Dah Lama Tak Update Blog Ni

Dah seminggu dah ni aku tak update blog ni. dah seminggu dah rasanya. Rasanya tak pernah sampai lama macam ni kan. Rasa gian dah ni. Ada dua cerita dah aku tulis tapi tak sempat nak update lagi ni. Sibuk sangat ni. Gambar2 BBQ hari tu pun belum upload lagi. So sampai I can really update with a write up, I will leave you all with this picture.

November 09, 2005

BBQ ni idea abang aku yang no 3. Abang Lang dari Shah Alam tu. Dua tiga hari sebelum raya aku telefon dia nak tanya bila dia nak balik, dia pun suggest kami buat BBQ malam raya kedua (hari raya pertama, pada malam harinya tu). Masa tu abang long pun ada kat rumah so we all agree sajalah.

Sepanjang ingatan aku, kami 8 beradik tak berapa rapat masa kecik dulu. 3 orang abang-abang aku diorang rapat jugak sesama diorang masa zaman sekolah dulu. Abang Lang pernah tinggal dengan Abang Long di Kelantan suatu masa dulu. Masa tu abang lang sekolah private dan abang long yang tanggung dia tu. Abang Long kerja dah. Walaupun dia agak cerdik jugak tapi ayah suruh abang long sara adik2 belajar, tak jadi dia nak ke Univ. pun. Abang Ngah kerja kat KL masa tu.

Kami adik2 selalu tengok diorang kelahi bertarik2 rambut masa kecik2 dulu. Ada saja yang boleh buat diorang kelahi. Nasib masa duduk serumah tu tak kelahi pulak. Masa tu kak M dah kawin, abang lang baru nak mula kerja, single lagi.
Tahun lepas, masa ayah sakit, kami adik-beradik makin rapat. Terutama, abang long, abang lang, aku, adik S dan adik bongsu kami H. Kami yang selalu bincang semua perkara tentang penyakit ayah. Abang lang banyak sumbang duit (he is the most successful in terms of career). Yang lain2 tu gitu2 lah sumbangan tu. Abang ngah, kak M dan Shah tak berapa peduli sangat. Cuma bila tercetus peristiwa pahit antara mak dan ayah lebih kurang sebulan sebelum ayah meninggal tu, kami "tarik" semua adik beradik datang rumah aku buat re-union untuk cuba elokkan keadaan. Lepas kejadian tu kami dah agak rapat. It takes a tragedy to get us close. Tambah pulak rumah aku dah jadi macam center untuk semua aktiviti keluarga. Jadi tak hiaranlah kalau BBQ dibuat kat rumah aku.

BBQ ni pun kami buat tujuan nak eratkan silaturrahim antara adik-beradik. Bukan senang nak bersama kalau hari2 lain tu.

Lagi terangkat, you all tau, hehehe. Sorry lah ekk…kalau keyboard tu banjir.

H dan isteri dia, buat kuah/sos BBQ untuk cicah ayam, ikan, udang sotong etc. Ayam dan ikan pari dan ikan kembung aku dah marinate pakai BBQ sos Knorr perisa Tradisional dan Hot and spicy. Ada tambahan menu untuk 2nd night, Ubi kentang, ubi keledek, sotong celur, franfurters (sumbangan adik S), daging lembu (from me and sirlion from H).
Tak nampak dia ni malu macam abang dia tu. Mulut pun bising jugak dok seloroh dengan cousins dia tu. Bila orang puji coselaw dia sedap senyum lebar dia tu.

Bila dah nampak meriah dan seronok sangat BBQ malam pertama .Hubby dok ajak sambung malam ketiga pulak. Kata dia bahan2 banyak lagi, arang pun banyak lagi. Abang2 aku OK sajalah.
Malam BBQ 2 tu anak2 aku jemput kawan2 diorang jugak, lagilah ramai. Mungkin pada orang lain BBQ ni dah jadi tradisi tahunan. Tapi kami baru nak mula. It’s better late than never kan. Nasib baik ramai jugak yang menolong cuma all the finishing touches saja yang kena buat sendiri tu.

Gambar2, nantilah aku bubuh kemudian OK.

After Raya Blues

Today is monday, supposedly we (hubby and I should be going to work). So why am I still typing this entry?. Gian agaknya ni kut, hehehe. Not exactly, hubby has already gone to work. Last night when asked whether he would be going to work this morning he said most likely no. "Malas" was his answer. But this morning when I asked again he said yes he is going. So, I had to ironed his clothes this morning for him to go to work. Why didn't do last night?

Yesterday, after days of "memerap" at home, hubby and his siblings planned to visit their parents graves. You all will asking why we didn't go on the first day right? This is why. My MIL passed away in 2001, she was laid to rest in Butterworth. FIL passed away more than 20 years ago, I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him. I think he passed away when I and hubby were in USM, he was laid to rest in Penaga. They are about 10 KM apart. If we (hubby and I ) visited the graves on the first day, we would not be in time to come back to our house before the house guests strated to arrive. So we convoyed 3 cars (hubby's MPV, mine and BIL's). Meeting place was at BIL's, which is former MIL's home in Butterworth. See, that's why I had no problem about where to spend raya each year. Our houses are not too far away, within the same state.

Planned was to move out from BIL's house at 9.00 am. When my family arrived at BIL's home, we were told that the eldest SIL (Kak Maz) was having stomach problem. We had to wait for her to arrive from her son's house in Bayan Baru. When they finaaly arrived, there were 2 other cars arrived at the same time. Hubby's old neighbours and childhood friend arrived. Had to layan of course, sopan santun budaya Melayu, sure kena layan kan. Finally after they left we were out of the house. It was already nearly 12.00 noon. When we arrived at MIL's grave, lucky for us the whether was not very hot, we said our prayers, sprinkled water on the graves and "tabur" flower petals on the graves of MIL and her other family members.

Next we moved to Penaga. Arrived at the graves almost 1.00 pm. Repeat the same thing and left for the cousin's house nearby. Hubby's cousin had prepared lunch for us. Nasi daging, with daging rebus cicah air asam, yummy ekk? We stayed there until about 3.00 pm and then off to Sungai Petani, to hubby's 2nd sister who has just received a new cucu. Stayed the rest of the afternoon there. On the way home, we took hubby's eldest and 3rd sisters and their family to our house first. It was late at night before hubby send them back to BIL's place.

Hubby this morning, could not find his specs. He said he had it in his pocket just before he went out of the door. He came in and out of the house, 3 times still we could not find the specs. I helped to find as well, traced his steps to the kitchen because he said he went there just now. After the 3rd trip into the house, I finally located his specs for him. It was in the dustbin, near the toilet door. It was there amongst the tissues and papers which I had put in a plastic bag before I took out the garbage. How come it's there? He dropped it when he bent down to take his shoes.

Me, since I woke up, I had been to the small room 6 times already. It is entirely my fault. Since I had been eating so much food, last night before I went to sleep I took a glass of Phyto fiber to help me cleanse off my system. So that's what happened. I called the office, to tell them I'll be late. I just want to be sure, I don't drive with an awful urge to go to the toilet.

Most of you all are already back at work by today, routine will set in pretty soon.
Have a GOOD monday everyone.

Syoknya Raya

Hari ni dah raya kedua. Badan aku pun terasa macam nak demam je dah. Manalah tak nya. Dua tiga malam dah tak cukup tidur. Malam 28 Ramadhan aku tak tidor sampai sahur, sebab aku buat rendang daging dan rebus nasi impit. Jadi dah tak tidur (sedangkan orang lain read : hubby, bedengkur kat atas sofa, aku pun sambil masak rendang, sambil berinternet.

Kak Long pun tak tidur bersama Farah. Diorang asyik jugak mengadap PC, tapi entah apa yang diorang baca. Aku sambil ber YM sambil dok masuk blog kawan2 hantar greeting Selamat Hari Raya.

So we keep each other awake through YM. Sembang itu ini sampai pukul 3 pagi tu.

Lepas sahur aku pun tidur lah. Kata kat hubby nak ikut pergi Carrefour, tapi bila hubby balik dari pasar, aku masih di atas katil so dia tak nak tunggu dah dia terus pergi sorang. Sian dia, penat lagi. Banyak benda nak beli sebab kami nak buat barbeque raya tu kan.

Malam aku masak lagi sampai tidur agaknya 2 jam saja. Bila hubby kata kuah lodeh dah mendidih aku bangun nak masukkan sayur2, dah terdengar bunyi azan subuh. Ayam pun BIL hantar lambat. dah malam dah so aku terpaksa masak malam juga. Selain tu aku marinate ayam untuk barbeque malam esoknya.

Pagi raya, bangun, mandi sunat aidilfitri, aku masak nasi minyak lah macam selalu. Agaknya sebab kami kata nak buat BBQ tu jadi adik beradik datang petang semuanya. Hubby's sisters pun balik dari KL semalam jugak tak macam tahun lepas sehari sebelum raya. Petang sampai malam baru rumah aku meriah sangat. Dah asyik dok buat kerja dapur baju raya pun aku sempat pakai sekejap saja.

Dah habis sehari Syawal dah...

Next entry BBQ malam raya 1 dan malam raya 2 ( Dah seronok buat BBQ first night, abang2 dan hubby plan nak sambung lagi semalam) Malam ni agaknya lagi banyak menu BBQ tu. Nanti aku cerita OK........

Raya Sakan Ni...

Isyyy, mula aku ingat tak nak update blog ni sampai lepas raya. Tapi agaknya excited pasal nak raya kut dan dok ingat mungkin ada yang mai dok jenguk blog, tulis sikit lah kan. Tak lah hampa sapa yang datang tu kan? Iye lah tu hehehe.

Aku dah mula sibuk dah dok buat persiapan raya ni. Anak dia ramai (5 lelaki 3 perempuan) penuh jugak lah rumah aku nanti.

Semalam hubby dah pasang lampu lip lap lip lap hehehe. Tahun ni tak pasang pelita pun sebab cuaca nampaknya selalu hujan. Meriah jugak lah walau tak pasang pelita pun. Tapi aku suka jugak ada pelita sebab nampak macam suasana kekampungan tu. Adik2 sibuk nak tolong tak sempat-sempat nak tolong angah buat adunan biskut coklat rice. Sampai si angah pun dok pot pet, pot pet dengan diorang tu. Aku tolong tengok, oven setting dan timing saja tu. Malam nanti kata diorang nak buat biskut conflake. Yang ni, sebab salah sorang cousin diorang nak datang join sama nak buat biskut conflake. Si Farah ni kata nak belajar buat biskut tu.Aku pulak dah nak kena masak rendang daging dan rebus nasi impit segera tu. Rendang tu buat awal sebab hubby janji nak bagi dengan kawan dia ( A chinese couple). Kalau buat malam boleh rasa. cukup rasa ka rendang tu. Nanti malu pulak bagi kat orang tak sedap rasa rendang tu.

Malam raya pertama kami adik beradik dah plan nak buat barbeque kat rumah aku ni. Best tu ramai2 makan2 jumpa adik beradik nanti tu. First time nak buat barbeque kat sini ni, banyak jugak nak kena siap ni.

Nanti aku cerita pasal barbeque raya tu OK.

Official semuanya. Sebenarnya, ingat nak letak kad raya kat sini pada malam raya sebab masih ada 2,3 hari lagi Ramadhan ni. Walaupun dah cerita macam2 pasal sambutan hari raya tu tapi raya macam tak seronok je lah kalau nak cepat ucapkan selamat hari raya tu. macam tak sempat-sempat nak kan Ramadhan berlalu.
